Examining the differences between nylon and plastic rope

Uncategorized

Ropes are produced in different types and are used in different industries. Ropes are produced with different raw materials, one group of these raw materials consists of natural fibers and one group of these raw materials consists of synthetic fibers. Natural fibers and synthetic fibers or polymers have different types. In previous articles, we have learned about different types of natural ropes. In this article, we are going to examine the differences between nylon and plastic rope so that they are not confused with each other.

What is nylon rope?

The ropes that are produced from polyamide raw materials are known as polyamide ropes, and these ropes are also called nylon ropes. These ropes are very resistant to wear and heat. These ropes are produced from three polyamide threads that are woven together. These ropes are widely used due to their elasticity and ability to absorb shock loads. These ropes have a good lifespan and do not rot easily. Also, they have good resistance against oil, gasoline and most chemicals.

Advantages and disadvantages of using nylon rope

  • These ropes are strong and durable.
  • These ropes are smooth and have no bends.
  • They are resistant to wear.
  • They are resistant to ultraviolet rays.
  • They have good heat resistance.
  • Unlike natural ropes, they are highly resistant to mold.
  • These ropes absorb water and become weak in water. Water weakens the strength of nylon, but this negligible effect makes these ropes used in mooring lines and anchor lines.

What is plastic rope?

Plastic rope refers to ropes that are produced from raw materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene. These ropes are also known as artificial ropes. The use of these ropes is in keeping objects, transportation and packaging. These ropes have a wide range of applications, including for packaging goods, connecting advertising banners, gardening, setting up awnings, boating, rescue and safety purposes, marine activities, agricultural industry, riding and holding horse harnesses; Used in marine transportation, daily work, marine and mooring rope and fishing rope production.

Advantages of using synthetic rope

  • These ropes are reasonably priced.
  • These ropes have good resistance to moisture and water.
  • They are durable against wear at low weights.
  • They are resistant to chemicals.

Nylon and plastic rope scale

  • Synthetic ropes, unlike nylon ropes, do not weaken when exposed to water and become stronger.
  • Nylon ropes have high strength and impact compared to synthetic ropes.
  • Nylon ropes have high strength and impact compared to synthetic ropes.
  • Synthetic rope has high durability during wear at low weights, but nylon ropes have good resistance against high weights.
  • Both of these ropes have good resistance to rotting and mold.
  • Both of these ropes are UV resistant.
  • Both of these ropes have high resistance to chemicals.

How to maintain nylon and plastic rope

  • These ropes are resistant to decay, but in order to increase their lifespan, it is better to keep them hanging so that the air flows through them.
  • In order to increase the shelf life and maintain the quality of tas, it is better not to be exposed to sunlight when they are not in use.
  • These ropes should not be subjected to pressure and abrasion. Because in this case, some of the fibers and threads of the strands are heated and reach their melting point or even pass it and cause the threads to melt and combine.
  • In some cases, as a result of excessive pressure applied to these ropes or heat close to the melting point, or friction created in contact with the pier and ship, injuries occur in the form of burnt ridges on the outer surface of synthetic ropes. In order to avoid any danger and also to maintain the rope, it should be cut at the damaged place and then the two healthy ends should be joined together.
  • Wrinkling of the ropes occurs due to the sudden release of these ropes during pressure, and the reason is that the texture of the rope cannot immediately return to its original state. If these ropes are stressed too much, the strands of the rope will not be able to return to their original position and it will weaken. In this situation, the parts of the rope that are wrinkled should be cut and thrown away, and two new ones should be added together.
  • Abrasion is a risk that occurs in the length of artificial ropes and is observed as a result of continuous use and work with the rope and in the form of fluff along its length and surface.
  • When using synthetic ropes and putting pressure on them, local stretching occurs in some parts of their surface, and the reduction of the diameter of the rope in these places compared to other parts of the rope is a sign of rope damage. They are allowed to return to their original shape and then curled and straightened.
  • Rust is also one of the things that destroys these ropes and is caused by the proximity of these ropes with rusty metals. If such damage is observed, synthetic ropes should be washed with soap and water.
  • These ropes should not be left in a state where they are stained with oil and oil, and in order to maintain their quality, they should be washed with suitable soap and water and then completely drained with high pressure cold water.

Conclusion

In this article, we examined the differences between nylon and plastic rope. These ropes are both produced from polymer raw materials, but only because they are produced from different grades, they are known by different titles. The plastic ropes produced in Lavan Baft collection with Salik and Moj Sedeh brands are of very high quality and are produced with high-quality raw materials.
